Write a guide
You know a part of the game well? Share it on one clear page.
The steps
- Create an account and confirm your e-mail address. Reading guides needs no account; writing does.
- Write in “My guides”. Your text is saved as a draft, with a preview next to it. Pick the language of the guide (French, English or German): it appears on the version of the site in that language.
- Send it for review when it is ready. You need a title, a summary, a category and a text.
- A moderator reviews it. They publish it, or refuse it and tell you why: you fix it and send it again.
A guide is short
A page you can read in a few minutes. Direct sentences, lists when they help. If you can cut a paragraph without losing anything, cut it.
Editor limits: title of 5 to 120 characters, summary of 20 to 300 characters, text of at least 100 characters.
An outline that works
- One sentence saying what it is and what it is for.
- The key points: how it works, in a few bullets.
- A worked example with numbers, so the calculation is visible.
- “Good to know”: limits, traps, what changes with the phase of the economy.
- Sources, with their links.
Verified facts
- No invented figures: if you are not sure, check in the game or leave it out.
- What comes from another player, or is dated, is said so (“according to a player”, “in 2021”).
- Cite your sources with links: that is what lets readers check your guide.
Basic rules
- No SimCompanies logo or official content, and no text copied from another site. Game screenshots are tolerated as illustrations.
- The site is not affiliated with the game.
- The guide stays with its author. The author gives the site the right to display it while it is online (see the terms of use, available in French only).
The format
The editor uses Markdown, with a live preview:
## Titlefor a section**bold**to emphasise- itemfor a bullet list,1. itemfor a numbered list[text](https://address)for a link
For an image, add it from the editor and describe it in the alternative text: a guide whose images have no description is refused when you send it. To see the expected tone and length, read the guides already published.
